Lucio Terzano inizia la sua attività professionale nella seconda metà degli anni settanta collaborando con alcuni tra i più apprezzati jazzisti italiani: Guido Manusardi, Luigi Bonafede, Franco D’Andrea, Larry Nocella, Massimo Urbani, Mario Rusca, Enrico Intra, Gianni Cazzola, Franco Cerri, Gianni Basso, Tullio De Piscopo.
Suona e registra con musicisti internazionali: Chet Baker, Kenny Clarke, John Surman, Harry “Sweet” Edison, Eddy “Lockjaw” Davis, Sal Nistico, Pat La Barbera, Bob Berg, Curtis Fuller, Roland Prince, Gerry Mulligan, Billy Harper, Lee Konitz, Kay Winding, Joe Diorio.
Partecipa a numerosi jazz festivals tra i quali: Firenze (’76), Varsavia (’77), Saint Vincent (’77), Umbria Jazz (’78), Montreaux (’78), Sanremo (’79), Belgrado (’80), Torino (’81), Roccella Ionica (’81), Montreal (‘86).

Dai primi anni novanta insegna presso la Scuola Civica Jazz di Milano e in numerosi seminari; registra con la Civica Jazz Band e in collaborazione con l’orchestra Verdi di Milano: “The Simphonic Ellington” (’99), “Ance For Duke” (’99), “New Prospective” con Kenny Barron (’00), “Italian Jazz Graffiti”(’02).
Negli stessi anni collabora e registra con altri musicisti, come David Murray, Eddie Daniels, David Raksin, Jimmy Cobb, Max Roach, Marcus Stockhausen, Phil Wood, Steve Grossman, Dave Liebman, Rachel Gould, partecipa con loro ad importanti festivals, tra i quali, Taranto (’95), Parma (’96), Valtellina (’97), Siena (’98), Bergamo (’99), Vicenza (’00), Zagabria (’00), Iseo (’01), Praga (’01), Ivrea (’02), Granada (’03), Jakarta (’03), Città del Guatemala, Città del Messico (06).
Dal 2004 forma il proprio quartetto composto da: Pietro Tonolo, Paolo Birro e Luigi Bonafede. Con loro registra tre cd: “From this moment on”, the music of Cole Porter (’04), “After All”, the music of Billy Strayhorn (ospite Sandro Gibellini) (’05), e “Orbit”, the music of Bill Evans (ospite Roberto Rossi) (’07).
Pubblica per le edizioni “Ricordi” due metodi didattici: Master in Sezione Ritmica (’06); Master in Contrabbasso jazz (’07). Attualmente continua la sua attività di musicista ed insegnante.

With them he participates at numerous jazz events, like Florence (‘76), Warsaw (‘77), Saint Vincent (‘77), Umbria Jazz (’78), Montreaux (’78), Sanremo (’79), Beograd (’80), Turin (’81), Roccella Ionica (’81).

Since the beginning of the nineties he teaches in the “Civic Academy of Jazz” in Milan and in various workshops spread around the country; he makes some recordings with the “Civic jazz Band” and in partnership with the Verdi Orchestra: “The Symphonic Ellington” (’99), “Ance For Duke” (’99), “New Prospective” (guest Kenny Barron, ‘00), “Italian Jazz Graffiti” (‘02).
